Drawing the Face: It’s All in the Details

This began as a multi-session class: Faces, Features & Figuration (6 consecutive Tuesdays, beginning on February 20, 2024), but you can now sign up for individual sessions. This class will focus on practicing a variety of additive and subtractive methods of value application to create more realistic textures and a sense of three-dimensionality. We will be working with facial drawing techniques and explore how to translate those into more realistic portrait drawings. We will dive into the basics of facial proportion, facial feature placement and composition and tackle tricks to better “set” the features into a face. Developing mood and emotion will also be introduced.
