Plastic Possibilities: Printing Intaglio & Monotype on Plexi

  • Townsend Atelier The Arts Building 301 East 11th Chattanooga, TN 37403 (map)

In this 3-session class (consecutive Wednesdays), we will explore the development of texture and value through different types of mark-making via two different printmaking techniques using acrylic printing plates and wetted paper, run through the printing press. One method we will use is dry point intaglio, employing pointed etching tools to “draw” a fixed image design from which a small edition of prints will be made. The other method will focus on exploring more painterly and gestural marks done with a brush and other tools on an open plate, to create various singular-edition monotypes. All materials will be provided. If students wish to purchase extra paper, they may do so at Townsend Atelier’s on-site store.
